Struggling to pray

Salamualaukum sheikh i have a question I haven't prayed salah for many years i only pray when Ramadan comes and salatul eid. every time i tried to pray 5 times i feels heavy. Unlike when i was a kid i used to pray 5 times a day right now i feel no more deep connection and i hate my self and I'm scared if i die like this. Is it late to do redoing it again ?

I am no scholar. However It is never late to start again. for "All sons/daughters of Adam are sinners and the best of sinners are those who repent". Perhaps this heaviness from Salah has come by thinking of it as a duty or chore. and seeing it only as an obligation by Allah. Now I may be wrong (May Allah protect us all and guide us) however I think this is why Prayer is obligated. I believe that nothing that Allah obligates or prohibits is for a reason other then that it benefits us. Prayer is obligatory not because Allah needs us to pray, it is because we need Allah, we need to talk to him even when we know he knows everything, we need to be close to him. And Allah knows this so to make life easier for US and so we may not lose our peace He made prayers obligatory. I would suggest you start by praying Fajr and Isha. For Fajar it is best to pray the 2 sunnah and 2 farz and just for starting pray the 4 farz of Isha and witr. Just make a goal for yourself that you have to pray qada of the prayers of that day you have missed with Isha. Then start making habit of adding more and more prayers. Eventually Allah will guide you and help you.
