Peace be upon you, Sheikh. Is the game Sky: children of the light permissible (halal)?
The game is a fantasy world with spirits of characters. The player encounters these spirits and relives their memories. It also features temples and candles, and in some levels, we offer candles to the spirits in exchange for in-game items.In a section called Eden, the character experiences a death followed by rebirth, beginning a new cycle.I know this is all within a fantasy game and I don't believe in any of this in real life, but I'm concerned about its religious implications: Is simply playing this game, with its spirits, temples, rebirths, and offering candles to the spirits, permissible according to Islamic law?If I play it without believing in these things, would that constitute polytheism or disbelief, or is it only forbidden if the content itself is impermissible?If some elements are merely symbols and part of a fictional story, not actual worship within the game, would the ruling be different?
