Moral compass
Assalamualaikum shaykh. I see so many argument on Instagram comments about difference moral compass between today's standard vs 1400 years ago standard.
For me Islam could be right, it's more logical in monotheism for me, but the moral standards explicitly stated in its tradition feel so disconnected from modern ethics that it leads people to question and even mock it, specifically concerning slavery, historical marriage ages and patriarchal structures. If Islam is the ultimate truth, why did God embed these contextual practices into scripture and the Prophet's sunnah if it would cause people today to view them as problematic?
Other civilizations and major religions (like Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity) shared many of these same historical realities, but because their scriptures don't explicitly codify or regulate them in the same detailed way, people today can wash it off like it never happened. Why did Islam take the explicit path instead? And how do we defend ourselves from all of these mockery?
thank you shaykh. Wassalamualaikum.
