Is owning a dog haram?
I have been asking my parents for a dog for about 8 years now and the thing is they approve but they say that it is haram. They said that getting a dog without the protection purpose is defying allah and we asked dar el iftah and they said its ok but my parents are not persuaded because of the hadiths and me and my siblings really really want to get a dog
