Is it sinn to follow only the Qur’an?

Assalamu Alaikum Sheikh. It is sinn to follow only the Qur'an knowing that it says that we also follow the prophet Muhhamad pbuh but that happened about 200 years ago and his sacred words could have been manipulated during all this time?
