How to become friend with Allah?

Allahs Himself gives us the definition: أَلَا إِنَّ أَوْلِيَاءَ اللَّهِ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ ۝ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَكَانُوا يَتَّقُونَ "Surely the friends of Allah will have no fear, nor will they grieve. They are those who have faith and remain mindful of Allah." Surah Yunus 10:62–63 It comes down to two things: sincere iman and consistent taqwa. Then Allah gives us more details in a hadith qudsi: "My servant does not draw nearer to Me with anything more beloved than what I have made obligatory upon him. Then My servant continues drawing closer to Me through voluntary deeds until I love him." Sahih al-Bukhari 6502 Start with your obligations: salah, halal income, fulfilling people's rights, enjoining good, forbidding evil, and leaving haram. Then add the extras: Qur'an, dhikr, night prayer, fasting, charity and service. Fard brings you near. Nafl makes you dear! Also, friendship with Allah requires sacrifice. You cannot give Allah only what is convenient: لَن تَنَالُوا الْبِرَّ حَتَّىٰ تُنفِقُوا مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ "You will never attain true righteousness until you give from what you love." Surah Ali Imran 3:92 Sometimes you sacrifice sleep for Fajr, money for charity, desires for purity, popularity for truth, your blood for justice, and your ego to forgive. Every time you choose Allah over something you love, you move closer to becoming someone Allah loves. The Prophet ﷺ described something amazing about the courage of mindset of the friends of Allah. He said: "They do not fear when people fear, and they do not grieve when people grieve." Sunan Abi Dawud 3527 So if you want to become Allah's friend, believe in Him sincerely, fear displeasing Him, obey Him consistently, sacrifice for Him privately, and love people for His sake. Do not wait to feel close to Allah before obeying Him. Obey Allah until He brings you close. And make this duaa: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْفِرْدَوْسَ الْأَعْلَى مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ ‏Allahumma inni as'alukal-Firdaws al-A'la minal-Jannah. " O Allah, I ask You for the highest Firdaws of Paradise

To become His friend you simple do what friends do Talk to Him! And not just in the times of hardships but anytime. Secondly, by reading the Quran, His very own book with words paired together by Himself. Once you take an initiative to read and understand the Quran you are bound to feel the connection with Him!!
