Birrul Walidain

Assalamualaikum shaykh my name is Bugshon from Indonesia. I have a question regarding birr walidain and responsibility towards my child. I have a conditions about my child and my father (grandpa). Grandpa is a heavy smoker, he can smokes 2 packs of tobacco per day. He want to kiss my child on the cheek. Of course I disagree with his action and warn him with polite tone. Instead of listening, he choose to scold me and said that Prophet Muhammad back then kiss his child/grand child and that is a sunnah. I agree with the sunnah, but his conditions about smoking habbit and other hazardous element make me worry about my child well being. Is it considered as breaking birr if I choose to not obey his command about kissing my child ?
