Assalamualaikum
Assalamu'alaikum, Sheikh... I would like to ask about the ruling in the Quran and Hadith regarding a situation where parents force their son to marry a woman from their home country—someone he has never seen and does not love or desire—even though he has already revealed that he loves a Muslim woman (a widow with one child). Is a widow truly so undesirable or unacceptable simply because she is from a different country? His parents disapprove and have threatened to disown him—telling him never to see them again—if he continues the relationship with that Muslim woman. The couple loves each other, and the man has already sought permission from the woman's guardian to marry her. He intends to marry the woman he loves as his first wife and also marry the woman chosen by his parents to avoid being labeled undutiful, as his parents are very important to him. The woman he loves does not want to part ways and has agreed to this arrangement with a heavy heart, without her family's knowledge. Could you, Sheikh—even though you are a grand mosque imam and have two wives yourself—tell the man's parents not to force their will upon their son, given that he does not love the woman they chose? Isn't that an act of injustice (*zulm*) toward their son and the women involved? The man claims he can be fair and fulfill the rights of both. I feel repulsed at the thought of a husband sleeping with and sharing his heart with another woman. How would it work when one lives with him in the country where he works, while the other lives in their home country? That is same like Oppress his wife. Surah An-Nisa, verses 3 and 129, clearly state that a man can never truly be fair, even if he wishes to be. Please offer some guidance to his parents, Sheikh, so that the message reaches everyone. Thank u.... May Allah Safe U every time..
