Advice to become a better person

Assalammualaikum sheikh, I did a horrible things to my parents and I know I should be punished for that. I did not intend to do this on purpose because I think at the moment I was trying to do, I feel like there’s syaitan whispering to me to do this kind of stuff.My family are disappointed in me and the guilt inside of me won’t let go and I will think about this matter for the rest of my life and I will not forgive myself for this. Do you have any advice so that I can improve and be a better Muslim and make my family’s proud.
